BioShock 2 Headed for Mac Release in January 2012

Feral Interactive has announced that a Mac version of BioShock 2 will be seen hitting the markets in January next year. The game was released to widespread acclaim in 2010 for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, and like its predecessor BioShock, the sequel too will be spawned onto Mac systems two years since its original launch.

An unsettling storyline, dazzling visual design and the evolution of BioShock’s genetically enhanced shooter gameplay are apparently on offer to gamers who purchase this version. An entirely separate multiplayer game would also make its way into the Mac version. Dubbed The Fall of Rapture, this online offering is said to take place prior to the original BioShock.

“BioShock 2 shows Rapture in a completely new light. By allowing players to be a Big Daddy, it explores the emotional consequences of the Rapture project,” revealed, David Stephen, Managing Director of Feral Interactive.

Transpiring a decade after an unpleasant civil war destroyed the underwater city of Rapture, this game revolves around a long series of kidnappings of local seaside communities that are brought about by an unseen monster. This ultimately leads to a re-population of the Little Sisters in Rapture. Gamers will be required to assume the role of Big Daddy, as he scavenges the fallen city for an escape route and the key to survival.
