Insomniac Games finally went multiplatform a few months ago. Their partnership with Electronic Arts may come as a surprise to many, but the company had been planning their next game for a larger audience for quite some time. In addition to this, the company has started to expand its fan base by staging regular podcasts and divulging tidbits of information about their next game.

Resistance 2

Though the community has been waiting for the arrival of the next installment of the Resistance series for the PS3, Insomniac Games have kept mum about any such details. Instead they are currently focusing their attention towards their new unannounced title with Electronic Arts as their publisher. It is now being speculated that the company has handed over quite a bit of development of the game to an internal Sony studio who are working onto finish the third game in the series. Apparently, pre-production of Resistance 3 is complete and they are perhaps aiming for a late 2011 release.

Insomniac Games is one of the most talented developers in the world, both Ratchet and Clank and the Resistance series has garnered numerous accolades from the community. Sony Computer Entertainment too has a plethora of studios that churn out amazing work with Naughty Dog, Santa Monica and Guerrilla Games leading the charge. Given that the Resistance series is such a crucial franchise for the PlayStation 3 platform, we assume Sony Europe was heavily involved in both the original game and its sequel. There is a huge possibility that Resistance 3 might have been transferred to them for completion.

We can only wait and watch what this will ultimately lead upto since this is a rumor to begin with. Hopefully, we’ll have another beautiful action packed title to plough away in 2011.
