Halo V Well Under Development?

Halo Reach might be this year’s most anticipated title on the Xbox 360. With Bungie relinquishing the reins of the franchise and moving onto other projects, the onus of the franchise is now in the hands of 343 Industries. Though we have only heard about their massive hiring sprees for the next Halo project and their involvement in Halo Legends, nothing concrete could be spoken about it.

This might not be the case since we stumbled upon Paul Ereth’s profile who was once working on Sony’s high profile PS3 MMO, The Agency. He was subsequently hired by Microsoft to work on Project Natal (now renamed Kinect) to work on Kinect Adventures. However, his current project seems to be more exciting since he has started designing levels and missions for the next Halo project which can be assumed to be Halo V (given Reach is technically the 4th main game in the Halo series). He has also worked on the ill-fated game called Shadowrun which bombed at the charts failing to ignite the interest of the community.

Apparently, the next game will star the lost Spartan drifting in space (being announced by E3 2011) and will look into continuing the legacy that Bungie leaves after their final game Reach. An interesting point that is to be noted is that the Halo series is slowly evolving into the mega successful Call of Duty series with one game being published under the banner every year. Will this have a positive or a negative impact on the franchise is a question that only time will be able to tell.

Hopefully Halo won’t be released like CoD and the next game will put MUCH needed emphasis on story and character growth (Master Chief needs to evolve).

I trust this will be one of the most successful games of all time. I really do believe they will continue to legacy, but with Halo 4. As it is one of the greatest series ever.
