A few days ago we had reported that Microsoft would be releasing new downloadable content for Halo 3 in December. Now Microsoft has sent word that the Halo 3 Heroic Map Pack for the Xbox 360 is available on the Xbox Live Marketplace. This is the first in the series of the DLC for Halo 3 from Bungie.
There are three maps in the Heroic Map Pack. One is the Standoff that features symmetrical valley, which has entrenched bases and fields of boulders and is perfect for mid-sized objective and Slayer game types. Then we have the Rat’s Nest that has vast, labyrinthine passages and is being touted as an indoor vehicle paradise, strongly influenced by the Campaign mode, best suited for big team battles.
The last one is Foundry, a Forge map where gamers will be able to edit every single object in the big industrial warehouse. They can place stairways, walls, bridges and tunnels to make a completely new play space.
The Halo 3 Heroic Map Pack is available for 800 Microsoft Points but Microsoft has stated that this DLC for Halo 3 will be free when the next multiplayer maps for the blockbuster shooter comes out in spring 2008.
