WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 Features and Franchise Updates Announced

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 is the wrestling simulation game which features the Raw, SmackDown as well as the ECW brands. Now THQ and Jakks Pacific have revealed the first details about the gameplay in WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 as well as some franchise updates. The game is set to introduce creative and online freedoms plus a wide list of the WWE Superstars and Divas.

“WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 will put the power of created freedom and shareable, user-generated content directly into the players’ hands, giving them the ability to control the action beyond anything ever witnessed in WWE programming,” stated Brian Coleman, VP of global brand management at THQ. “Combined with new Road to WrestleMania storylines, an impressive roster and other major franchise updates, including our new gameplay experiences on Wii and Nintendo DS, WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 will be the must-have game for players on October 20.”

“WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 is certain to take the renowned WWE SmackDown vs. Raw videogame franchise to the next level,” commented Nelo Lucich, senior vice president of interactive, Jakks Pacific. “The vast array of creative and online options allow players the ability to create their own unique Superstars, right down to their tattoos and customized ring gear, to formulate original finishing moves, to craft their own storylines and then to share it all through the WWE Community Creations interface. The possibilities for total distinctive gameplay are endless for our tremendous fan base around the world.”

The game will feature a new Create-a-Superstar Mode which allows players to create Superstars and Divas and take them for in-game brawls. There will also be a new Paint Tool with which players can put on extremely detailed tattoos and body art, while a revolutionary Superstar Threads feature lets users come up with alternate fighting gear for their Superstars and Divas. Also featured is a Create-a-Finisher Mode which can be used to create death-defying acrobatic stunts.

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 debuts the WWE Story Designer, which gives players the freedom to make and customize their own cut scenes and storylines. Players will even be able to select scene locations, adjust camera angles, write their own dialogue, and even determine talent emotions. In addition, gamers will be able to upload their creations online for use both online and offline.

Additionally, the game will also add numerous key franchise updates including the WWE Training Facility, the Road to WrestleMania story-based mode with a Create-a-Superstar storyline and a Divas storyline, and over 60 playable fighters. The game also features a top-of-the-line soundtrack including tracks from Lynyrd Skynyrd, Adelita’s Way, Sick Puppies, Skillet, and Trivium.

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 for the Wii will offer support for the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, as well as the Classic Controller and the Nintendo GameCube Controller, while WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 for the Nintendo DS offer a more simulation based experience with its streamlined controls and the ability to use the stylus. Players will earn many cards to get power-ups and unlock content.

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 is scheduled to release on October 20, 2009 for the Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PSP, Wii and Nintendo DS. Pricing for the game is not known.
