There are some pretty great upcoming Android games which are worth looking forward to. Google’s mobile platform has seen a surge of applications over the past years and many developers have started designing console-quality titles thanks to various engines like Unreal, Unity and others. What’s more, they just aren’t focusing on graphics alone, as we’ve already encountered a large variety of releases that offer immersive gameplay. Listed below are highly anticipated games which we’ve been keeping a close watch on and are worthy of the wait.

1. Deus Ex: The Fall:

The Deus Ex series has some of the most unique FPS titles available for PC. The Fall is the fourth release in the franchise carrying many ties to Human Revolution which was launched in 2011. The game has already been launched for iOS back in July and while no release date for Android has been provided, the developer has promised to announce an update soon.

This title takes place in the year 2027 and it follows augmented former SAS agent Ben Saxon who sets out to uncover the truth behind a global conspiracy involving the Illuminati. The game offers hours of play time and each mission can be carried out the way you want – action or stealth. The iOS version features HD visuals and touch-friendly controls, both of which can be expected on the Android release as well.

2. Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf:

Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf

Space Wolf is a turn-based collectable cards title that offers tactical combat gameplay. Here, you take control of a squad and head into battle against various monsters. Not much is known about the game at this point apart from it offering players the ability to build their own deck of cards. New additions can be acquired by completing missions and challenges.

Additionally, cards can be equipped with different items and upgrades will also be available. Your actions will be portrayed in animated cutscenes. Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf is scheduled for release in Q2 of 2014 and it will land on multiple platforms including Android, iOS, PC and others.

3. World War II: TCG:

World War II: TCG

World War II: TCG is another trading card game on this roster. This release is as the name suggests, focused on the WW2 era offering a ‘never-ending’ singleplayer campaign where 10 main campaigns will initially be available with a lot more content promised for the future. Missions here are fictional, but historical events will be present during the story mode.

By partnering with Gamedonia, the developer is also going to offer a PvP mode which is cross-platform compatible. The title will focus on 4 factions, namely German, Russian, American and Japanese, and offer more than 200 cards. No concrete release date has been given, but the game is currently in closed beta testing.

4. The Room 2:

The Room is one of the most enjoyable and challenging titles you’ll find on iOS and Android. The sequel to the first release has already been launched for the iPad and Fire Proof Games has announced that it will land on the iPhone, Android and Amazon Kindle sometime early 2014.

The upcoming title implements the same physical puzzler gameplay where your goal is to uncover the mysteries behind cryptic letters left by an unknown scientist that goes by the initials AS. Along with high quality visuals, you can expect hours of gameplay and intuitive touch controls to explore various artifacts in search of hidden secrets.

5. Trials Frontier:

The Trials series has been popular amongst platform racing fans and the upcoming Frontier release aims to deliver console quality gameplay on mobile devices. The title is said to work with its console counterpart, Trials Fusion, and it will feature social racing where you can take part in asynchronous races as well as time-limited events.

In the story mode, you will have various challenges to complete which are spread across a large world map. And by collecting parts as you progress, various upgrades and customizations can be carried out to your bike and rider. Ubisoft notes that Trials Frontier will be available early 2014.

6. Shadow Blade:

Shadow Blade

Being developed by Dead Mage Game Studio, Shadow Blade is a fast-paced platformer which aims to offer action-packed gameplay featuring a ninja named Kuro who’s on a quest to become the Shadow Blade. Featuring beautiful 2D visuals, you navigate the ninja across various levels by defeating enemies, jumping over obstacles, avoiding traps and also collecting shiny balls. This game will reach the App Store and Google Play by late January.

7. Godfire: Rise of Prometheus:

Godfire: Rise of Prometheus

Godfire: Rise of Prometheus is one of the most highly anticipated titles for mobile scheduled to be released in early 2014. The title is being designed with the Unreal engine, so you can expect to find some of the best mobile graphics available will date. The main focus here is Greek mythology where you take on the role of Prometheus who embarks on a journey to recover and return the Godfire Spark to the mortal world.
