Mohit Anand Speaks About Piracy in India

A few days ago, we followed the rampant piracy that is prevalent in Delhi. We got in touch with Mr. Mohit Anand, who happens to be the Country Manager of the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft India. He did send out a strong message.

Xbox 360 Mohit Anand told GameGuru.in, “Xbox 360 is committed to the development of the gaming industry and intellectual property rights lie at the heart of investment, innovation and technological advances that drive the industry’s growth, employment and opportunity. Video games piracy hurts everyone – from game developers to the retail storeowners, and ultimately all consumers. Protecting consumers is a major priority for us. Xbox 360 is working with the best security experts to eliminate piracy and to deliver the best and most powerful gaming experience to our customers.”

Well, there you go, you heard it from Microsoft. At the end of the day, there will always be piracy, from software to hardware, but the one important thing that companies can do, especially in the developing markets is to bring down the prices and send out a message to the consumers that they are doing their bit. They will also have to make sure that gaming companies release the titles the same day they are released internationally.
