Vixture gaming championship announced in India by Zero Friction

EA and ZFriction logos Zero Friction, also known as ZFriction Ltd, has collaborated with Electronic Arts for Vixture, a gaming championship in India. The prize money at stake is Rs 50 lakh, making it the largest ever offered in any console gaming championship in India.

The Vixture gaming championship will target over 50,000 gamers from more than 500 top Gameplexes. Console gamers will have to battle against the competitors to lock a place in the finalist team that comprises of 64 gamers. Later, they have to shoot for the top spot in a three-day Vixture final, which is slated to be held on June 13-15 this year, in Mumbai.

All competitions are expected to have preliminaries in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune between May 15-May 30, 2008.

“Unlike other parts of the world, gaming in India does not enjoy recognition as serious sport. Vixture will provide give a platform for budding Indian talent to showcase their skills. The largest ever prize money offered by Vixture indicates the commitment of Zero Friction to gaming in India”, mentioned Charu Sabale, Director, of Zero Friction’s India subsidiary.

In the Vixture gaming event, five popular games by Electronic Arts are in the limelight, namely Crysis, Need For Speed ProStreet, Cricket 07, FIFA 08 and Fight Night Round 3.

Apart from Crysis, which involve all five players from the teams, all the other games are single person shootouts. In India, gamers will get the chance to play Crysis for the first time. Crysis is one of the most complicated and thrilling science fiction shoot game produced worldwide, in a professional multi-gaming competition.

Each team has five gamers; each of them will have to play five games. Top team takes prize of Rs. 20 Lakhs, and Rs. 10 Lakhs will be given to the runners-up team. The best part is that the top gamers in each of the five games will be offered Rs 4 lakhs each.
