Octodad: Dadliest Catch hitting the PS Vita on May 26

May 26 has been marked down as the date on which Octodad: Dadliest Catch will be seen arriving on the PS Vita handheld console courtesy of Young Horses. It will be made available for the device in exchange of 14.99 USD (approx. Rs 950). The game is already available for the PS4, and thanks to the cross-buy feature, those who own it on their home consoles will get it for free on their PS Vitas.

However, the makers of Octodad: Dadliest Catch have decided to omit the cross-save functionality from this release. So, no matter how far you’ve reached in the PS4 version of this title, you’ll have to start all over again in the PS Vita variant. As if to make up for this, a new set of Trophies has been granted to the PS Vita version of the game.

A cool addition to this handheld offering is the ability to play in local co-op mode. Two players will need to sit on opposite sides with the PS Vita placed in between them. They will then need to use the touchscreen to move the character in everyday situations. Although the original game came from Young Horses, this PS Vita version has mostly been handled by Sickhead Games.

Octodad: Dadliest Catch

Octodad: Dadliest Catch is an adventure title that acts as a sequel to 2010’s freeware offering named Octodad. It asks you to control the protagonist who is an octopus in disguise trying to perform chores that are usually easy for human beings. It was first released back in January last year for PC, Mac and Linux, while it was later ported to the PS4. Versions for the Wii U and the Xbox One are also under development.

Like we said, May 26 is when you’ll be able to download Octodad: Dadliest Catch onto your PS Vita consoles.
