A few days ago, there was an article on the MTV Multiplayer blog that pointed out many similarities between the new Prince Of Persia game and Shadow of The Colossus, the epic action game for the PS2. But now it seems that there is some clarification over the similarities with Shadow of The Colossus and Prince Of Persia as the producer has given an explanation.
Ben Mattes is the producer of the new Prince of Persia game at Ubisoft. On his personal blog, Mattes wrote, “SoTC (Shadow of The Colossus ) was a big inspiration for us, but mostly with the intention of making the boss battles epic and emotional, something they succeeded in masterfully and that we only touched the surface of (in terms of emotional connection on the part of the player).”
The Price Of Persia producer then mentioned that the similarities that were pointed out by the MTV Multiplayer blog were ‘coincidental’. However, Ben Mattes stated that he doesn’t mind the comparison. In fact, the Ubisoft producer goes on to say they have been open about the influences of Okami, Ico and Shadow of The Colossus they had during the development.
