Resident Evil 2 remake is finally a reality, Capcom announces

The wishes of all those fans who have for years been asking Capcom to come up with a Resident Evil 2 remake have finally been acknowledged by the company. It has announced that it is pursuing the project actively now, via a video on YouTube that is addressed by producer, Yoshiaki Hirabyashi.

Hirabyashi has stopped short of mentioning any crucial details about the game though. That’s probably because there aren’t any worth revealing, since the decision to remake Resident Evil 2 has just been taken, and the further process is yet to actually get rolling.

This game doesn’t even have a definite time frame for its release, which means that fans will have to cool their heels for at least one more year in order to lay their hands on its copies. But for hardened RE enthusiasts, what really matters is that Capcom has finally paid heed to their cries of remaking the second iteration of the amazing series of survival horror games.

Invader Games, an Italian indie studio had earlier taken it upon itself to develop an HD remake of Resident Evil 2, and fans will be pleased to know that this game is almost ready for distribution. Developed using the Unreal Engine 4 technology, it will be made available free of cost to everyone. It is perhaps the popularity that this version has generated that has convinced Capcom to come up with its official remake.
