Fuse release date comes to fore

The Fuse release date has been set by EA for May 28 as far as North America is concerned, while its European launch is slated for May 31. This latest game from Ratchet and Clank and Resistance-creator, Insomniac Games, is all set to become its very first multi-platform title, as it will be made available for both the PS3 as well as Xbox 360, unlike all its earlier games which were only PlayStation-exclusives. It was announced with the moniker Overstrike, but in 2012, it was rebranded by the studio for reasons unknown.

The game revolves around fuse, a deadly alien energy source from which mankind needs to be protected. The responsibility of this dangerous job has fallen on four elite covert agents, Dalton Brooks, Izzy Sinclair, Jacob Kimble and Naya Deveraux. Each of them has been equipped with their own xenotech weapon and a set of unique skills exclusive to them. Collectively known as Overstrike 9, this team consists of ‘misfit agents’ who are known for their teamwork.

As far as the title’s gameplay is concerned, it will feature a third-person shooter model, and will also contain four-player co-op offerings in its campaign. Solo players will be able to make use of its LEAP feature for switching characters during combat with no holds barred. Competitive multiplayer has been skipped by Insomniac Games for this offering, with the studio instead having opted for a special Echelon mode which again focuses on cooperative play.

Along with the latest announcement of the game’s launch details, EA has also gone on to reveal its pre-order bonuses. Those who book their copies early on will be able to grab special armor and weapon customizations for the game’s four elite agents. The three such packs that will be included with the pre-orders comprise of the Four Hyperion Prototype Agent Armor Skins, the Four Hyperion Prototype Weapon Skins and the Quickdraw Team Perk.
