The co-op-equipped Dead Space 3 has finally landed on store shelves through EA, and its new Awakened DLC has already been announced by its publisher. Hailing it as the first big entertainment blockbuster of 2013, its maker has announced its arrival at North American retailers and the region’s Origin service, whereas this title is slated to hit European territories on February 8, 2013. It can be picked up now at the regular price of 59.99 USD (approx. Rs. 3,185).
The Dead Space 3 Awakened DLC will be seen hitting PSN, Xbox Live and Origin in March. For the PS3 and PC, it will be priced at 9.99 USD (approx. Rs. 530), while it will be made available for the Xbox 360 in exchange of 800 Microsoft Points. This add-on content is being claimed to comprise the franchise’s darkest chapters, as it includes more ‘gruesome and terrifying’ Necromorph battles ‘than ever before,’ according to EA. No other details about it are at hand as of now.
Steve Papoutsis, who’s the vice president and general manager at Visceral Games, and also the executive producer for this game, has mentioned that it was their goal to evolve the franchise by ushering in fresh features. Hence, the addition of drop-in/drop-out co-op and weapon crafting was decided upon. Papoutsis however has revealed that the series’ popular elements such as its suspense, horror, action and sound have been retained. Speaking about the upcoming DLC pack, he remarked that it is set to grant gamers some of the ‘most disturbing content’ ever seen within a game from the franchise.
The story of the main title has players striving to uncover the secret of the Necromorph infestation, while unraveling the mystery behind the Markers. This is the first game in the series to kick in co-op offerings. Along with Isaac Clarke, a new playable character named Sergeant John Carver gets introduced through it. All the action transpires on a new planet dubbed Tau Volantis which is filled with highly-evolved enemies to battle against.
Dead Space 3 can be purchased now for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in North America. Its European release on the other hand, is planned for February 7. And its Awakened DLC is scheduled to launch sometime this March.
