Sony and Rockstar Games Clarify L.A. Noire, PS3 Overheating Issue

The long waiting period for L.A. Noire concluded earlier this week as the title hit stores across North America, Europe and Australia. Nonetheless, the arrival hasn’t been as smooth as expected. Apparently, some PS3 gamers have been encountering troubles stemming from overheating of their systems while playing the title.

Initially Rockstar Games attributed the aforesaid issues to the PS3 firmware 3.61 update but the developer has now modified its stance by issuing a joint statement with Sony. The gaming giants have emphasized that neither L.A. Noire nor firmware update 3.61 are responsible for overheating of the PS3 hardware.

As the companies clarified their respective positions, they have reinforced the commitment to resolving this issue. It has been stated that players who are facing these glitches on their systems can sought technical help from the official Rockstar website and the official PlayStation blogs.

Meanwhile, reports suggesting crashing and freezing of both PS3 and Xbox 360 systems during L.A. Noire gameplay have surfaced. According to the developer, ‘a very small number of Xbox 360 console owners have reported issues with the game freezing or locking up while playing.’ Further, the company has listed out a few steps which can be implemented for solving the problem.

Following the recent PSN troubles and the incompatibility of the latest Xbox 360 update with some systems, the L.A. Noire overheating as well as freezing issues seem to have put both Sony and Microsoft in a tough spot. We can only hope that gamers will soon get to unravel criminal cases within the L.A. Noire environment instead of tackling these hardware hassles on the outside.
