In the concluding week of September, EA announced Medal of Honor Multiplayer Open Beta for PC gamers around the world. This Open Beta has commenced and will continue until October 7, 2010, allowing gamers to peep into the next installment in the series. Portraying authentic settings of war-torn Afghanistan, this new chapter enables players to lay their hands on real-world weapons in the game.
It has been announced that the development team can load-test the multiplayer servers during this Open Beta for extending easy connectivity and an enriching experience. This will come handy to ensure comfortable gameplay subsequent to the release of the title early next week. In this beta, gamers can set out on two quests based on diverse maps namely Kunar Base and Shahikot Mountains.
“The heartbeat of Medal of Honor has always resided in the reverence for American and Allied soldiers. The decision to remove the Taliban team name was out of respect for the families of these men and women. All elements beyond the substitution of the Taliban team name in the multiplayer portion of the game will remain unchanged. We have released this PC Multiplayer Open Beta to let players see for themselves,” commented Greg Goodrich, Executive Producer, Medal of Honor.
Recently, EA changed the name of the opposing team in the title from Taliban to Opposing Force (OPFOR). According to the company, the modification pertains only to the multiplayer mode and does not alter environments, characters models or weapons employed in the title. To showcase their support towards troops serving in Afghanistan, the gaming giant has joined hands with several charities such as Give Back 10, The Mission Continues and Adopt-a-Soldier.
Medal of Honor will release on October 12, 2010 across North America while gamers in Europe can jump into action from October 15, 2010. Players who wish to immerse in this Multiplayer Open Beta of the title can download it from the official Medal of Honor website.
