Rumor 101: Gears of War 3 in Production?

Marcus Fenix left his war against the Locust horde incomplete and incoherent by the end of Gears of War 2. The only piece of information that the community was able to decipher was the fact that the Locust were closer to the human race and were perhaps freak accidents of experiment gone haywire. Although the game was broken in pieces, it did manage to sell rather well making the enormous legion of Xbox 360 fans eagerly wait for its inevitable sequel.

Well, we managed to dig up a few profiles that might point to the development of the Gears 3. This includes a outsource art company guy James Paick who has previously worked on Uncharted 2 and is also working on Sucker Punch’s unannounced title (pointing to the resurgence of Cole or Sly). The next profile of Kevin Chen reveals he recently started working on “Character Design and Style Guide creation for new unannounced game.” The important thing to note that both these individuals have been hired and working on it over the last few months.

Most would assume this would be the EA/Epic collaboration. However that particular action game is in development with “People Can Fly,” who are a part of Epic Games over a year now and if we are correct it might show up at the VGA by this weekend along with other high profile games in the line with Dead Space 2 and Halo Reach.

As far as Gears of War 3 is concerned, we hope Epic Games does actually manage to push the limits of the action genre as it once did in the beginning of this generation. Fenix’s journey, if fleshed out through proper channels, has the tenacity to actually build upon a wonderfully visceral action game which was lost in transition in the second outing.
