No doubt, Yakuza is one of the best action adventure games that has come from the Land of the Rising Sun. But it has not done so well in the western countries! Eurogamer is reporting that Sega has confirmed to them that Yakuza 3 is very much in development for the PS3.
They have not released any details of Yakuza 3, but it has been revealed that the game is set in Japan’s Edo period, around 1605. The earlier Yakuza game had a modern-day setting. Yakuza 3 will let gamers get once more into the criminal underbelly of Japan to explore, scrutinize and fight their way to triumph and respect. Yakuza was first released for the PS2 in Japan in 2005. The game was later released in North America and Europe but did not do that well.
So when Yakuza 2 was announced last year, it only came out in Japan. Sega did not launch the game in the western countries. Yakuza 3 is scheduled to release for the PS3 in Japan in the early part of 2008. Sega has stated that at present, they do not have any plans to release the game in Europe.
