God of War Movie Script Done, Djimon Hounsou could play Kratos
It has been well known that the PlayStation 2 hit “God of War” was being made into a movie. Now designer David Jaffe has stated that the movie script is done. He also said that he would prefer Djimon Hounsou, who was worked in Amistad and Blood Diamonds, to play Kratos.
David Jaffe said in an interview to Entertainment Weekly, “I keep expecting them to call me and say it’s dead, but my fingers are crossed. We’ll be sending the script out to a huge-name director… Djimon Hounsou as Kratos. Absolutely. You have to get past the fact that Kratos is Greek, but in terms of the way he looks and his acting ability and his physique, I can’t think of a better choice.”
The script of the God of War movie has been written by David Self who has worked on Thirteen Days and Road to Perdition. The sequel to the game, God of War 2 for the PS2 is expected to release this month while a PSP version of the game is also in the works. The movie has a good script writer; lets hope the director would be a good one too and the movie doesn’t end up like the Lara Croft movies.
hes a GREAT actor… but i just don’t see him as Kratos. oh and who’s the director? an i REALLY hope that this gets done SOON!

Hey if Tom Cruise can be the last SAMUARAI, the this guy can be Kratos. It’s ACTING PEOPLE. I’d rather a guy who can re-create Kratos as best as possible than some white guy because he LOOKS the part. His skin would be ASH-WHITE, he’s got the deep voice, the body, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, he’s a PROVEN ACTOR.. I’ve seen Americans play JAMAICANS in movies (COOL RUNNINGS)… If you are THAT racist, then don’t see the movie if this guy gets the part.

Djimon Hounsou is a great actor, but he is not fit to play kratos. Get Gerard Butler to play as Kratos, or Vin Diesel is even a good choice.
I also am a person that thinks that the King from 300 is thee perfect person for the role of Kratos, I mean as the movie previewed for the first time and I saw him I said “! this guy could play the role of Kratos if the movie was ever made…” now I see that it is in the works… anyway, lets see how it goes.

A horrible choice for Kratos. Spartans clearly were not African, I mean the guy doesnt have to be greek but he should be able to pass for a spartan. Even the Rock while clearly not greek could pass in my opinion.

No, I wont see the movie with a black guy as Kratos, I agree with everyone above that disagrees with Djimon Hounsou playing Kratos. Clearly Tyson Tomko would be perfect. He’s tall, huge, and looks just like Kratos. If they cant use him then they should get the guy from the most recent hercules movie. I think is name is Paul Telfer. Hes got the size, the build, and he looks somewhat like Kratos
I think Djimon wouldn’t be bad. Just coz hes black doesn’t mean he won’t work… Besides, the reason why the “CREATOR” of the God Of War franchize chose him was because of the combination of look, acting ability and physique. All of the alternative people have suggested here are pipsqueek compared to Djimon in terms of acting.. So drop the racial stuff here, he would be great.. Obviously he suggested a black guy coz there just isnt a white actor on the market. All the people who look and sound the part are wack actors. The rock, please.. That Tomko guy is just ridiculous. Besides, the guy who provides Kratos’ voice in both of the games is…Drumroll… Yes, you got it, Black… Terrence Carson is black. No white person could pull off that voice. A perfect blend of raspiness, depth and badassnes. And im white.

Hi…..it me again want a perfect solution who can play as kratos.Here have a look of this picture on this site…give some response and dont forget guys only choosing the hero will not make the movie.Who is going to play as Zues,and who is going to be the rest of the charaters.Think guys coz we want …..i mean the God of War lovers want the movie to be the best ever made movie.I want to enjoy this movie like no other movie.It should have the bloody scenes more like the game itself.Anyway this is going to be a god damm good movie.I hope that the war between black and white end coz there is nothing to be proved by colour or race…remember all human have same colour of blood and all are god creations.Stop being kids and start thinking about more idea that can improve this movie.

Vin Diesel would make the best Kratos ever, they look exactly the same and he has muscles and is really tall…and got a shaved head he is born for the role. No affence to Djimou Hounson he was great in Blood Diamond but as Kratos I just cant see it.
STOP WITH LISTING WWE Actors as headline actors. Just look at their Box office receipts (John Cena – the Recruit), Kane (Undead or whatever the heck it was called), the Rock (every move after Scorpion King). WWE actors by far make movies gimmicky and bring in little to no credence to a film. We are all making a big deal because we fanboys (and wenches) of the badassedness of Kratos and the GOW franchise. But this is movie, and its bound to be highly watchable but very imperfect just like XMen, Spidernman, Doom, Lord of the Rings, etc. We also know 90% of the people who are going to watch the movie are going to go through the following thought process .. He look its a movie about some pissed off Spartans, Whoa look Blood is involved., Wait a minute.. I think their is going to be nudity.. I am there!
So lets stop fussing and a fighting. The directors and investors behind movies such as this do NOT care about the die hardcore fans when making these movies and are shooting for a wide appeal. The Honsou character physically is a great choice, but he is lacking in other places (accent, skin tone, etc). But I’ll check it out either way. Besides if any of you saw Eragon…..Honsou played what looked like the only black English king with long flowing hair (really bad perm a la James Brown)….now that movie should have had HOWLS of outrage.

Right. Kratos is a Greek warrior. Greeks are white. It’s not a racist thing but if you’re watching a black man play a white man on screen, it just isn’t going to work. Djimon Hounsou may be a brilliant actor (which he is) but the fact remains that Kratos is Greek, whether or not he was voiced by a black man for the game. If the movie is going to be based around the game, then they can’t change the protagonist’s appearance. Two people who I think would be brilliant for the role would be Dwayne Johnson or Dominic Purcell. It’s all good saying that it’s about the acting and the ability to convincingly pull off the role of Kratos, not the actor’s appearance but if I see a black actor taking on the role of Kratos, then I will feel like it isn’t Kratos that I’m watching. They need to be able to act out Kratos’ brutal and violent nature and personality, but at the same time, it is equally as important that the viewers are convinced by the protagonist’s general appearance. That is why a black man playing a Greek is impossible

the perfect guy to play Kratos would be that guy from Saw 2. Franky G. He was also i the italian job. He looks EXACTLY like Kratos. He plays a dick very good too. hes very scary and would be beleivable.

I mean, yeah duh we all realise Kratos is Greek and Olive/white. Though I was really surprised they put a black actor in a Greek role, then i kinda pulled my sense together. Kratos skin was pretty Dark in the game, plus they are no doubt going to cover him in those Ash and red paint anyway. So it won’t matter.
Two, he has pretty nice physique, (i know there are better…but..this case no excessive tanning required!)

Franky G should be Kratos. Kratos is the anti hero, not a good guy. Franky G has proven himself to be a scary badass. The Rock is a good guy and he wouldnt be right for playing Kratos.

I hate to burst all your guys’ bubbles, but Djimon Hounsou is a great actor, and he is perfect for this part. Honestly I think alot of you guys are actually just racist. Because if you knew anything about God of War, Kratos is Ash-White so skin color is not going to matter. Physically he looks great for the part, and he’s already proved that he is an AWSOME actor in Blood Diamond, Gladiator and so on. Gerard Butler is a good choice as well, but for this kind of movie you need acting skills…I’m not saying he’s a bad actor, he was fantastic in 300. But what other movies has he been in that has a recognizable name? And I don’t know if some of you were shrooming when you posted to this thread saying Goldberg, and Vin Diesel are good for this part. You have to understand how fragile it is to make a movie BASED on a video game…think of all the movies based on video games; Street Fighter, Mortal Combat, Blood Rayne, etc…All awful movies…(ok, ok, I do like Street Fighter and Mortal Combat but they are still awful movies lol).

The perfect fit for Kratos is the mummy, you know the bald guy from “The Mummy Returms” ARNOLD VOSLOO. This Djimon guy might have the body but not the face. Look up Arnold’s pictures all you’ll agree.
Franky G is not white either, he is a light-skin Puerto Rican guy. Actually he is much darker in person than he looks in Saw 2. I have seen him twice in person and he reminds you more of a mulatto Rican. They put ALOT of white powder on him to give him a sickly look in Saw 2. As well, his Brooklyn accent is way too strong for the role of Kratos.
I think the best choice would Nathan Jones, hands down.

Denzel Washington,Samuel Jackson, Chandra Wilson, Blair Underwood, Will Smith, Tawny Cypress, Holly Robinson Peete, Queen Latifah, Rachel True, Elise Neal and countless other blacks have played roles made for white actors and actresses and vice verse for white actresses/actors.
I understand that you want to keep it in line with the game, but let’s not get racist and act like its impossible for a black or dark-skin latino person to play a role that was actually meant for someone that was white. Make-up in hollywood can do amazing things. We wont even notice the ethnicity of the actor but the character that he is playing. If a Movie is great in visuals and poor in the acting department well then the rest of the movie is a complete waste. Great visuals such as “300″ and acting make a movie along with an intense storyline. 97 % of the Games I & II Kratos is marked with the ashes of his family making him white and the only time we see him w/out tht is during the first few cutscenes. And if anyone watched tht show Black and White or w.e when they turned black ppl into white ppl i mean c’mon, the make up they use is amazing. They can tone his skin to be lighter. Tyson Tomko is a good choice but would probably lack acting ability such as stone cold. Vin Diesel is also a good choice they should keep him in mind. The Whole fact of being able to completely transform someone throws “But he’s black , kratos isnt black” in the garbage. The Movie will flop with bad acting no matter how “cool” it looks. You need strong actors/actresses to carry the movie. Gerard Butler is also a good choice. but the fact tht he was in 300 , is kinda repetative to be in a Greek/Spartan based movie. If Hounsou is commended for his acting ability and also with the physical appearance then go for it, he’s ur man. They can change his face even. Make up does wonders. The movie will fly with good acting and will make it even better than having some buff guy who cant even read play the part. I look forward to the movie.

Djimon Hounsou would be a good fit but not perfect – and if you’re a fan like me, you want the movie to be perfect. Although a Black man plays the voice of Kratos (T.C. Carson) and he was designed according to African warriors – Kratos is white. The best choice would be Vin Diesel. Vin has the build, he’s bald and his voice is deep enough to be a believable KRATOS (I don’t think he’s entirely white though).
You fanboys are all full of shit. While I don’t think Djimon Hounsou is that great of a choice (because of his strong accent) his African ancestry should factor in. I bet all of you people bitching and moaning about Hounsou because of his ethnicity would be first in line to vote a white actor to play the part of a character who isn’t white. I’ve seen many instances of this including the suggestion of white European actors to be the prince of Persia. It’s great to hear the script is done, but I sincerely think that Djimon Hounsou is NOT the actor to play Kratos. First of all, he does NOT have the right body type to play Kratos. Kratos is a figure based on Greek Mythology, and Greek Mythology has always shown its heroes portrayed as more of an endomorphic body type. Kratos has this body type in the game. He has HUGE broad shoulders, a thick torso, and thick legs. Djimon Hounsou has a much slender ectomorphic body type. Granted he is built, but even if he were to bulk up more, he still wouldn’t look right. Secondly, he is african. Even if you paint him up, he will still resemble African traits, taking away from the whole persona that Kratos should have on the big screen as a Spartan. I personally think IGN.com had the right idea to make Dominic Purcell play Kratos. He has the right build, the right face, the right voice, and the right kind of acting experience that would make him a great choice for the role of Kratos. Besides, Djimon Hounsou has his own acting reputation to consider. With his spactacular roles in Amistad and Blood Diamond, I don’t think he should try to offset his image as nurturing figure by playing an extremely violent role that could prove to be very controversial. Oh well, that’s just my two cents.
okay now, tyson tomko should not be kratos, kratos has very piercing eyes, tyson tomko does not, tyson tomko’s head looks like a bowling ball , kratos’ doesn’t, kratos does not have that big of muscles either, look at him, he may be a bit more muscular than the average warrior but we don’t want him to look like a body builder , Djimon hounsou would infact be a complicated actor to be Kratos because he is black, but i mean do you ever really see kratos in the game without the ashes, yes but very rarely, CGI can lighten Djimon’s body skin color to a lighter hue, because Kratos may not be jamaican looking but he certainly isn’t the whitest man alive before the ashes, give Djimon a chance i think he can pull it off, you guys are just being too picky, nobody looks just like kratos in the world, Vin diesel is not the right actor because of his voice, he has a whispy type voice from talking through his nose, Kratos has a very direct and clearly stated voice no offense to Vin Diesel, just think on it

Maybe vindesiel or someone, more likely an actor from 300 (which is the best movie ever made) should play Kratos but NOT a black guy. Gerard Butler , please , aside from yelling “this is sparta ” how deep was that character , really if it wasn’t for kickass cinematography the script is like 3 paragraphs, If you guys are going be typical go all the way, why not suggest Russell Crowe (Maximus), Brad Pitt (Achilles) , or Dolph Lundgren… Ha Ha Ha . In all honesty kratos shares a lot of facial features with his voice actor Terrence ‘T.C.’ Carson. Goldberg looks like him but isn’t a good actor and to bulky , Kratos has a fighters physique not a bouncers. Vin Diesel was great as Riddick but the question is how much story vs. visuals , how much dialog and character vs. firey blades . As for directors Guillermo del Toro seem to be respectful to the characters ,Blade2 was well done . If anyone can turn a african into a spartan del Toro would be the one to do it right .

I personally believe that Djimon Haunsou would be a very good candidate for Kratos. Looking at how hollywood was able to transform Gerard Butlers looks into Leonidas (300), I believe that it can be pulled off. Not to mention the fact that Vin Diesel’s stature and personality don’t reflect the hardened Soldier/Murderer that Kratos portrays (althought I think that he’s a decent actor). Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson could easily pull off the looks as well; but we don’t want this movie to turn out to be the Vince McManish, WWE style of acting that “The Rock” consistantly brings to the table.
In truth I believe that if you aren’t going to use a seasoned acting veteran with Haunsou’s depth of character, then why not try to bring to the movie someone who isn’t a big name; an unknown name that would allow more emphasis to be put towards the movie instead of towards the actor. The movie “300″ did this same thing. Many of the actors in the movie “300″ were seasoned actors, but most of which didn’t have affiliations with the scope of movie that “300″ was. In this way “300″ was able market itself as “300″ and not the Gerard Butler show. What do you guys think?

The Leonidis dude seems like he’s got the perfect physique and persona to play the role. I think he needs more recognition anyway. Okay to end this crap plain and simple. Dijimon Hounsou is a good actor and no I’m not trying to kiss ass. But he dose not fir the role it’s not that he can’t have the role because he’s black it’s because the fact that he is dosen’t fit the role. That sounds like an oxymoron but think of it in different terms. I’m not trying to be racist, it’s just that in respect to the game and as an artist this will not work. Yes make up and artificial prosthetics can change the look of the person but they will most likely retain a definet look that can be easy pointed out as them. Besides The minute they put prosthetics on Djimon ihis face may end up to think looking uneven with his body. Africans usually have strong features such as Dijimon obviously dose. It will look to fake or a bit odd. You need a thinner face sometimes to build upon suck as Vin Diesel. His jaw isn’t as wide and masculine as Kratos but that can be fixed easily with little work with the prostheitcs. Dijimon dose have a good fit body but his nothing like the characters. Some of these people posting on here honestly are pretty dence when it comes to the field or correlating in look and how it provides a familiar effect for the people. Even if you no nothing about the game just being a half educated person in the real world the appearance of Hounsou as the main character wil deplete the movies energy by far. Some of you just keep pulling names out of your ass as if when someone is muscluar and bald that they may automatically fit the part. Kratos isn’t even as big as some of you think for whatever irrational reason. The problem with this ultimatley is this is a fictional character invented by people like me artist with very specific details. So it wasn’t based off a person already existing already. If so it would definetly be much easier. I can’t believe they would even pick Hounsou his accent is way to apparent and he dosen’t even sound like Kratos. Just because your voice is deep dosen’t mean it sounds the same. It’s like when I explain to people that sometimes it’s not that this color is not deeper then that one they are just different colors. As for Vin Deisel hes all over the place we have seen him to much and voice wise I don’t think it’s about right for the role. Purcell is good and has a good serious face but he dosen’t look like Kratos. I agree with someone that mentioned earlier that Franky G would be good. Alittle work in the make up department and it would be good for the most part. Dijimon’s make up would look so caked on and fake it wouldn’t be convincing. Besides you would still be able to see through it without a doubt. But maybe my educated expectations will be wrong. It’s a very slim chance but who knows. Acting is very important and wile Dijimon is pretty good this isn’t the role for him even in the acting department. If thier was no game and the movie came out first with changes in the story such as Kratos coming into Greece as a boy or a baby given up to a greek family and raised as a spartan makes sence. Something like that intergrated into the story would allow for Dijimon to wear his natural look and add to the film because he would match the ocurrances of the story. I do like Hounsou but this kinda of movie isn’t his type acting wise anyway. I loved him every movie hes been in. I kinda wish he wasn’t also taking this movie because I don’t think it will serve his terrific acting. I like action movies but he brings a very dramatic effect not that GOW wasn’t a drama aswell but some of these kinds of movies take away from the drama. This probably dosen’t fit the high standard he brings to the screen, hes not just any actor. Maybe more of a harder action appeal could be good for his status or benefit him as an actor. I wouldn’t mind him kicking ass and taking names as long as the role is right for him. For the movie ultimately auditions should be done to find the right person.

It’s quite possible that to recreate Kratos, the voice should be similar, and Djimon’s could easily be so (though I can also easily see using Vin Diesel as well).
The thing is, American society is much more willing to accept a black person (or other minority) playing a negative role (Kratos is an anti-hero…admire his power if you will, but he’s not really viewed as a truly “good guy”).
Everyone has their own perception of how Kratos should appear in this story. If you’re arguing that a black actor couldn’t recreate him in a similar light to Kratos from the GOW games, I think that’s crap. If you simply have a different vision for where they should go with this story (i.e. just take the basic storyline concepts and make a movie out of that), I can give THAT some credibility. But it’s really up to the director and I really think that the plotline to this story is too good to get messed up by a choice of what base skin color the lead actor has. I can’t believe people think some of those wrestler clowns would be better than Djimon. They might have more muscles, but if Ed Norton can go from scrawny in Fight Club to cut in American History X, I think D can overcome that obstacle.

Ancient Greeks DID NOT MIX WITH PEOPLE WHO WERE NOT OF THEIR OWN KIND. Do people even know Spartan history? They were even more ethnocentric. Ancient Greeks fit very perfectly to European-Caucasian look. Just look at their ancient statues of depictions of themsevles. Do you see any NON European Caucasians in them? NO! Djimon is an excellent actor but to pull off Kratos……….I really don’t think so. Kratos is spartan warrior & not a black warrior. Vin Diesel has the built & the balls to pull off the role of Kratos & not to mention the voice. If you guys watched any Vin Diesel movies you’ll see that he Vin’s like water he can take on any role from a street racer (fast n the furious) to a stuntman (XXX) to a torn apart cop (A man apart). Personally Vin Diesel is No.1 on my list for the role of Kratos.

First, lets look again at the movie “300″. The visuals where ground -
breaking! The concept and screen play where very close to the GOW
series. I strongly feel that the director (Zack Snyder) and producer/writer (Kurt Johnstad) for “300″, nailed it on how the Greek charators should look. The actor in the leading role as the king of Sparta (Leonidas) gave such a strong pertral of what a true greek warrior leader should be. And that’s why he should be considered for GOW movie. The problem I have with this brother protraying Kratos is … he simply dose’nt give off that immediate feeling of, YES, HE IS KRATOS!!!! And he don’t. In “300″ that guy … DID!!!

Gerard butler cant play kratos because he already did 300. peeps would be comparing the movies when thats the last thing a gow movie needs. obviously djimon doesnt look like kratos, but you have to understand that he is an ACTOR, a damn good one. really i dont care who plays the part aslong as they pull it off. the rock surely cant pull it off, hes horrid. diesel actually wouldnt be too bad. a good choice would be to find a b list actor to play the part (like a gerard butler) that way people wouldnt have expectations based on whos playing the part, but on the series itself.
the 300 trailer is what sold the movie. im sure all the peeps that said they wouldnt see the movie if djimon got the part would be the nerds in line for hours if the gow trailer is just as good.

It should really be vin diesel, he’s definately the right build, he has the face and the whole angry facade about him. djimon housou jus doesn’t seem like he could appear brytal enough. Someone commented that Vin Diesel can’t act, I disagree, however even if he cannot, i doubt this role will require long emotional sections of dialect. His performance in Pitch Black and Riddick were excellent and I believe this role would be somewhat similar. Vin Diesel for Kratos!

You guys are crazy, djimon is probably the best canidate to play in the upcomming film, his physique fits the profile, he is a brilliant actor compared to some of the suggestions ive heard, like vin diesel and fucking gold burg and duane johnson, c’mon where in the world have u guys ever watched a movie and seriously appreciated their acting, dont get me wrong their movies are great, but some of the action films are a little cheesy, take in account doom, they butchured that movie, duane’s acting career is just too young, and he’s unbelievable as an actor. and im sure thats not the goal for god of war, djimon portrays anger like the spartan we all love, even though hes black you have to remember, kratos is covered in the ashes of his own family, so we know you wont see black in the film, except for maybe the beginning, now besides him the only other great actor as a spartan would be the actor who portrayed king leonydous on the movie 300, but thats just that, he’s already done that type of movie and it would be hard getting used to the idea that hes another spartan god, if you will,

Well i don’t want to be a third wheel here but has anyone seen the trailer of Beowulf? I mean people have come so far with CGI. I think God Of War – the movie schould be CGI. So the purity of the game will still be intact. I mean the best person who can act Kratos is “Kratos” himself. ( The guy who does the voice-over.) And how else can u capture the viciousness and rage in Kratos his face. If it would been a human’s face it would be different all over. The game is full of action and gore so it should be displayed in its full glory in CGI. I mean why not? Just look at the movie Final Fantasy Seven. Advent children. That is a good example of what people are capable of nowadays.

Listen to the character’s voice, look at his build. Yes, there were no black spartans in Greece, or as far as we know. You can alter things written in history and nobody would know the difference because nobody lived in that time period. Stories could be passed down through generations, but that doesn’t mean stories were altered. You can or cannot prove that there were or were not black spartans. If the Greeks took over Africa and found some of the strongest, most fit men of the African countries, then wouldn’t they too become spartans? Who says that you have to have a greek heritage to become a spartan? Who ever said that there weren’t black spartans in history? We’re just following the written pages of history, but just because it was etched in stone, written on parchment or paper doesn’t mean that generations have altered history. We may think there were no black spartans, but that doesnt mean there could have been any. But back to my other point. The character’s built like a black person, the voice of Kratos is a black person, so in sense, it would make sense if Kratos is played by a black person. I would be honored to see Djimon Hounsou to play the character of Kratos if “God of War” will be turned into an epic movie. If you think otherwise, then you’re just a racist prick and just following what was written on the pages of history.
In some of the interviews on the first God of War disk, Jaffe admitted that although he was extremely satisfied with the role Kratos played in the story, he was a very non-Greek character. Come on, even physically he looked more like a WWE wrestler than the classic, leanly muscular Greek look found on their sculptures. Although he’s Spartan, he’s far too impulsive to have been an acceptable one. In all of the cutscenes, he and his men rushed at their enemies and never created a Phalanx formation (being vain and impulsive is common among Greek heroes, but it still wasn’t the Spartan mindset). Hell, the Spartans even wore their hair long, and if they shared the Roman opinion, considered goatees to be effeminate and “Egyptian.”
If Kratos was an authentic Greek hero/Spartan, he would’ve been decked in bronze armor, with a long spear, short sword and shield, a full beard and Hoplite helm. He’s a far more contemporary anti-hero set in the world of Greek mythology.
That’s not saying that Kratos isn’t one of my favorite video game characters or a total badass, but he’s a very “black” character. Everything from his voice to his bad attitude. His lips are rather thick, and his nose is quite broad too. Besides, his ash-white skin means that no white actor could look like him without CGI or make-up. I’m not saying that Djimon Hounsou is the right pick, but I can’t honestly say he’d be inauthentic for the part.

I’ve spent the last twenty minutes or so reading all of these opinions about who should be cast as this god, both racist and non, educated and idiotic. So many people on here, the so-called fans of the game talking about “I wouldn’t go see the movie if Kratos is black” and “Kratos is white, not black” blah blah blah. Few people realized that the race of the actor should not matter. In fact, only one pointed out that Egyptians have been played by white people throughout movie history and no one has gotten upset that they are truly AFRICAN. They were not pale-skinned, they were deep olive and darker, especially the slaves that worked the pyramids.
But I digress. I wish for you to look closely to the picture of the video game character Kratos and then look at the face of the person who voices him, T.C. Carson. If you’re going to bitch and moan about who should fit the role and play him, then choose the voice actor, for Kratos was created based off of his appearance. There is no other way to go around it. And make-up can change the appearance of a person so far as to make them an entirely different race. And my opinion on Vin Diesel playing Kratos is that he would not work. He does not look like the character in the least. And the only reason he was good in Pitch Black and Chronicle of Riddick was because he played his own character. He is the voice of and the model for the Video Game Riddick. And it was his choice to bring HIS video game character to the screen. God of War is not his video game. Stop bringing him into the equation.
As for the guy who played King Leonitus in “300″, the only reason you’re suggesting him for the role is because he already played a Spartan movie. He was perfect for that particular role, but now you have gone to stereotyping him for that role. He may not be fit to play the “Ghost of Sparta” just because he played the King. Again, leave him out of this equation as well.
Then there are the other WWE men you have mentioned. None of them fit the physical physique of the character, nor do they have any acting ability whatsoever to match what will be needed for this particular film. Dwane Johnson, as much as his movie humor me, would not be right for acting of this calibur. The closest he has gotten is his role as the Scorpion King, but that’s as far as it will go.
Its wrong of all of you to want to boycott a movie just because a particular actor has been casted for the role. You have no idea what the outcome is going to be and if you were true fans of the video game, then you should want to give the video a real chance. Keep an open mind about it and support your game and the story line it ensues. If you go to see the movie and it is not that good, not because of the character, but how the director and producer put it together, then by all means give your opinions about it then so that other people won’t have to waste their money in going to see it. But until the movie is made, and shown, I suggest that you just keep your opinions to yourself, and give it a chance. It’s not going to hurt anyone.
I think djimon could pull of the role very well. The skin tone issue, well you would be surprised what can be done with lighting, camera trickery ,etc. I think Nathan Jones would also be a good choice, i wouldnt usually suggest a wrestler but this ones different ,Look him up on wiki.

I think Djimon Hounsou would make a good Kratos, but if we can’t get him then Franky G. would make an excellent Kratos too, because he has the look and the body type for the part. All in all, we want someone who will bring Kratos to life.

NO VIN DIESEL! The guy is a good action hero, but that does not make him every action hero. Sure, he has the right build, but you would have to be deaf to think that his voice could pull off KRATOS! Lady C has by far made the best and wisest argument saying that the actor should be the guy that actually voiced KRATOS. That’s why DIESEL worked for PITCH BLACK and RIDDICK, he was the voice for the game, he made the man for the movie. I believe that we should give this guy (the voice actor) a shot. And as for Djimon Hounsou playing KRATOS, skin color will not make a difference at all (due to how KRATOS was stained with the white ashes of his murdered family.) If the voice actor did not make the cut, then I would feel highly confident in Mr. Hounsou’s ability to play the role.

I don’t see anything wrong with Dijmon being Kratos, Africa is right under Greece Geographically and Kratos could have very well move to Greece from Africa because he wanted to be in the greatest army in history. I mean in the books Greeks were all called Greeks not white Greeks black Greeks even Italian Greek. So I believe that Kratos could have very well been black if I didn’t play the game because of the bass in his voice. Plus his skin wikk probably be gray in the movie so it won’t really matter HA.
I don’t get the whole black/white issue with Dijmon. C’mon people, With ashes on his skin, he looks just like Kratos. He’s the best choice. If they put him in the movie & cover him up in ashes, he would be so perfect that most of the naysayers would be forced to stop complaining about his heritage. And Jonathan is right. Who’s to say that an African couldn’t have moveed to Greece. It’s really not that far away.
Also, IGN made a good choice in Dominic Purcell. Like someone said earlier, look at the picture at IGN. He has the looks for the role. He’s also a bad ass, great deep voice and great with action. And Gerard Butler is good. Also Franky G. And yes Franky G is a latino and not white. But the ashes should do the trick.

Djimon Hounsou is an excellent actor but i don’t see him as Kratos and not even the Rock or that guy from 300 . They should conceder Bill Goldberg or Domenic Purcell for the role of Kratos.
Unless you get some albino, no matter who you get, they will have ashes put on them. So race should not be a factor. And even if they go back to his past, it doesn’t matter. This movie is going to have massive CGI affects. If they can create crazy monsters they can find a way to lighten his skin for no more than 10 minutes worth of film for his past. Or if the actor is light, they can tan him. Or they could show the past in black/white and use effects to work out skin color issues. So let’s get over skin color. This can be fixed.
I think these actors are bad ass Djimon Hounsou, Dominic Purcell, Gerard Butler or the Rock. The only issue is the accent. Kratos does not have a strong accent. Gerard & Djimon have strong accents. So this is my only problem. But they fit the role well enough that I probably won’t even care. LOL
I like Franky G. But his strong NY would throw me off and I’m from NY. But the NY accent stands out way too much. I’m not sure if he can tone it down.
But the most important thing is the director. Whoever they chose must be on their A-game. This will make or break the movie.

It hurts me to read and hear all of these statements that are being said here. I hate that a qualified person, more capable of fitting a part of the movie is disqualified based upon his race. And I truly believed if the movie was created, and he had the part, and you guys had no knowledge of his ethnicity, you would not complain. It shouldn’t matter if the actor is black or if the actor isn’t greek, because the key word is that he is an actor.
I hate to say it people, if you are simply disqualifying him on the basis of him being black, then you may be truly guilty before the Lord as being a racist.
David Jeffe quoted this “You’d have to get past the fact that Djimon is African American and Kratos is Greek, but in terms of the way he looks and his acting ability and his physique — I can’t think of a better choice.” The first thing that people started complaining about, is not that he wasn’t a good actor, not that he didn’t looked the part, not that he didn’t sounded the part, but because he was black.
I truly believe that a lot of people liked 300, and many people said this, that the movie was fascist as stated on Wikipedia.
The whole crew was Greek on the 300 side, and they dominated all other minorities from the opposing team. If I was greek, this would be most inspirational in my day to day duties, especially if I worked in Corporate America.
However, with the movie GOW, if I am looking for something inspirational as 300, of course I would not want the protagonist to be black and representing the Greeks, because it goes against the flow of me dominating other minorities. I think you should try out Mike V. He likes to fight and he used to do backyard wrestling. Since he is a pro skater he’s got to be in shape. Hes got the right build. Acting would prolly be his only down fall . But if everybody is going for looks hes your guy.

1st off not only is the guy a great actor but he could definately pull off the roll as Kratos, he has the perfect face, voice and body type. Secondly Kratos looks black without the white ashes on his body. He’s also voiced by a black actor “Terrence ‘T.C.’ Carson”. Look it up. Plus for all those who think The Rock should play the roll and Djimon shouldn’t because he’s black should also know that the Rock is also Black. Holy God! How ignorant are some on this thread. Hounsou would be the worst casting choice ever for the mere fact that Kratos is a FREAKEN SPARTAN!! The creator of Kratos made him even more unlikely to be black by making him a SPARTAN for the mere fact that SPARTANS DID NOT and I repeat DID NOT INTERMIX OUTSIDE THEIR OWN KIND. So the likelyhood you would find a “black” Spartan is slim to none. Spartans also allowed ONLY true full blooded Spartans to become warriors like Kratos, so an intermixed one would be cast aside. And no you didn’t have black Greeks running around in ancient Geeks because they were less then 1% in ancient Greece, just as there are less then 1% in modern Greece. News flash, blacks like Hounsou in ancient Greece were called ETHIOPIANS = Greek word for ‘dark faced or burned faced’, not Hellenes=Greeks=fair skinned EUROPEANS.
Ok first of all David Bautista was born in Arlington, Virginia NOT GREECE. Big difference, the likelyhood of intermixing with others outside region of origins is more likely then in Greece. dijimon is a great actor. loved him in gladiator and a couple other movies, but he, in my opinion, is not right for the part. i mean the game was based off fiction stories, but still set in a historically correct time period. kratos did not have an african accent. nor did any other spartans or greeks.

3. In all honesty, any decent actor worth his nutsack could play Kratos given the makeup hollywood can use to make them look just like Kratos. I agree that Djimon is a good choice for Kratos, but I really think Dwayne JOhnson, would be the best choice for the role. His acting has improved dramatically since the Scorpian King, not to mention he has the physic, the skill, and facial features that would make him the perfect Ghost of Sparta. Just think about it, The Rock, shaved head, white make up, and red Tatts, weilding the blades of Olympus, and his signature Goat… that is the real God of War.
I really thank that the role of Kratos should be played by Vin Diesel, he’s got the body shape and build. Not to mention the right bone structure. He’s also a really good actor! To be completly honest I don’t know if I would even go to see the movie if they don’t cast it right.

The voice of Kratos is black, i saw it in the GoWII bonus CD. ( the guy with Dreads from the 90′s tv show Living Single) they will probably add some Computer Generated muscles if he isnt big enough like they did in 300. But we all agree as long as Kratos looks half decent. The voice is what really matters and djimon honsou would be a very reasonable pick.

Oh and i forgot to mention, that the rock, vin diesel and goldberg..would probably be great for your average robocop action flick..but i dont think they have the seriousness or epic skills.. it would take to really make Kratos come off as serious and not chessey. god of war is a fantastic game and if they are going to make a film it cant fail to be good: the story is excellent. Although I think Dwayne Johnson would be a better choice as Kratos, because he’s got the same sneer that Kratos has, the same physique and mannerisms. They want to hurry up though because it’s an exciting prospect to see it on the big screen!

The game was first developed that the lead charactor was supposed to be some black guy with dredlocks, they realized that that would suck so they put the game in ancient greece. Unfortunately they left kratos with some black features and the original voice, the game would have been 1000x better if they made him look like a real spartan with armor and everything and made him less of a dickhead.
The developers said he wouldnt be individual like that, well they screwed up the character, he’d be more individual if he were a real spartan, you learn about the character in cut scenes anyway not during the actual gameplay.
Hmmm..!I would agree with others saying he’s a great actor but it’s kinda insane to substitute from the real deal. If the producers would like to make this movie (The God of War) a phenomenal one, I would rather pick someone to take the role of KRATOS who is MORE LIKE KRATOS..I would suggest Dave “the Animal” Batista to take this role, after all he’s Greek and I think he is the perfect specimen for this role.

People we all need to wake up and realize something, do we really know the full background story of kraytos? I mean if you played god of war 1, then you know that when he was speaking to his wife, he’s skin complexion was darker way darker than hers, maybe kraytos has a different story pertaining to his upbringing? I am so disappointed in the majority of people here. My fellow gamers, fans of God of War, and it’s heart, Kratos. If any of you were a true fan of God of War, a few things would come to mind when determining an actor for Kratos:
1. Have we learned nothing from the past blunders of Hollywood? Man who offers many a beat down does not always equal good character. Kratos is both. With him, we get the best of John McCain and Hannibal Lector. If Vin Diesel were casted in this role, sure, he may wield the Blades of Chaos well, but where is the disturbed, sick, and beastly Kratos that we all know and love?
2. Skin color has nothing to do with any of this. If any of you can attest to being a true fan of God of War, then you would know that as a reminder of his barbaric actions, the ashes of his slain family were forever fashioned onto his skin. This means that even if Tom Hanks were Kratos, they would still put make-up on him to make him ash-white.
3. Emotion. Where were the lot of you when it was revealed why Kratos is the bloodthirsty monster we know him as? No doubt watching your greased-up chubby men in speedos touch each other in the wrestling rings. Kratos isn’t just an ass-kicker in crimson. He, too, is a human being, capable of raw, pure emotion. Even after Ares tricked him into mercilessly slaughtering his wife and daughter, he wasn’t just a big dumb guy beating up beasties. He was responding to a rage that none of you will ever realize in your life-times. What over-weight wrestler could possibly bring that kind of a window into the psyche of such a broken individual?
When we all played God of War for the first time, we were all immediately hooked by the brutal nature of a character none of us had ever seen before. But it wasn’t this brutal nature that kept us coming back. If Kratos’ outer, physical violence was all there was, we would have beaten the game, said, “That was fun,” then sold it. But we didn’t do that. We told our friends about it. We showed it to our guests. We read about it, and awaited sequels. We argue about the actor that will play this character in the movie. Why do we do this? Not because he’s bloodthirsty and brain-dead. It’s because there is a depth to Kratos we all can relate to. There’s a sense of unquenchable anger, a need to set things right, memories that we so want to throw away, but keep coming back to haunt us, and that inner knowing that however ominous things may seem now or in the future, we’ll keep climbing up (much like Kratos in the Temple of Pandora). There’s something in Kratos we all can relate to. No one actor has ever, could ever, or will ever pull this off. You all forget that Kratos is actually black…. at least at the beggining, till he gets the “curse” or whatever it was, then he becomes ple white. if a black person plays it they will later put make up on him to make him white that 4 sure, if a white dude plays him they will put darker makeup in the beggining of the movie, whatever happens its not the point what color the actor is, the acting performance whats trully important here. Vin Diesel could be good, or some other actors, maybe they will cast some unknown one. frankly I don’t think it’s a matter of race at all. I think we need to be careful who to cast for Kratos because if his actor is wrong then the whole movie is destroyed. I love Djimon as an actor as he is right up there with top black actors such as Denzel Washington, but I just don’t think he’s quite right. Some people keep asking how we know what race Kratos was if he’s covered with his families ashes but we know becuase of his flashbacks in the first game. Plus there would NOT have been such a thing as a black Spartan as all greeks were very nationalistic, and Spartans were VERY picky about who was who in there society I.E. if you were not born of two greek parents in Sparta you were not considered a Spartan and therefore were not treated the same so the idea of an african Spartan is not only ridiculous but impossible. I’m also not very fond of the idea of wrestlers casting for Kratos. At the moment the best choice would probably be Gerard Butler but he’d have to figure out how to mask his heavy scottish accent.

I keep hearing Goldberg and I cant help but wonder who the hell would think that a wrestler who has about as much acting skills as ME could play a role so important? Djimon Hounsou as Kratos? He’s a very good actor and have a great body, but i think they have to work out to make him as we see Kratos in game, this could be another one of those great movie like “Lord Of The Rings” type. Personally I think to make God of War feel like the game they should scrap actors all together no one fits Kratos. Good actors dont have the physic and really muscly guys are usually steroid fuelled morons who cant act for shit. Javier Bardem would be a pretty good fit if he is dedicated to get into shape(he was very creepy in no country for old men). Dwayne ‘the rock’ Johnson also is a good fit. You need someone that is very scary looking because thats who Kratos is. No offense but DJ is not very intimadating to me. I wouldn’t even mind LL cool J. Computer graphics can enhance it but i thought bewoulf took it too far with certain scenes. Franky G is also a pretty good fit also.

I agree with Kratos being the guy that played on the movie “300.” He looks like him and he’s a great actor but i dont care either way who it will be as long as they do a great job on it. I would really hate to be disappointed, cuz this is a great game and my bf favorite all time game!

I don’t think the Scottish actor from 300 is a good choice at all. Djimon would be great for the role but I also think Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson would be great as well. Personally I love Djimon as an actor but I honestly don’t see him as a good fit for this character, and I say that as a fellow Brother. Now, if there was anybody (other than the Rock, who for the record along with Vin Desiel happens to be Black) I think would be Chistopher Judge, “Tilk” of Stargate fame (another Black Man, sorry White Guys) would be a great fit. I think he could stand to beef up a bit but other than that he fits perfectly.

I believe Djimon Hounson would be a perfect cast for Kratos. In the game they don’t ever go into his childhood and this would be a prefect oppruntinity to add more dynamic traits and personas to his psyche. I know Spartans didn’t mix with other races and that fact could make Kratos character more dynamic for the simple fact that he’s a mixed breed and that could be incorporated that into his origins. I believe it would be a great idea of Kratos existence was always considered a hindrance to closest ones. I believe a good solution is that his mother was raped during a tribal ground skirmish and kept him but became a social outcast in the process. (I know Zeus is his father but he’s God so I imagine he can shape-shift like he does in the games) Imagine being considered a half-breed by fellow Greeks and not being accepted and that dilemma could add to ONE of the reason Kratos is constantly fueled with anger and hostility. The idea that Kratos was never accepted from his Greek brethren until he was proven in battle that he Greeks didn’t even want any involvement from Kratos could portray how brutal and relentless he was on the battlefield that he TOOK their respect on the battlefield to earn his rank before he sold his life to Ares. Those lines one of the games cutscene saying that the men would follow Kratos anywhere tells you how much a badass he is. Also the white ashes of his wife and daughter could be another constant subliminal reminder of his struggle of acceptance from his peers. The God of War story is already complex but I believe this little backstory could add a lot of more dynamics to Kratos inner psyche.
It’s hilarious to see 15 year old 300 fanboys suggesting the Scottish guy who played King Leonidas should be cast even though anyone with half a brain would know that realistically no actor would typecast themselves by taking on another such a similarly themed role especially when the movie is as popular as 300 is. Anyway while I think Djimon Hounsou could certainly pull it off I think Dwayne Johnson would probably be more ideal because I could see Djimon’s accent being distracting and I think Dwayne Johnson’s bigger build would be more fitting.

Look, You want a good movie? cast the actor that can get it done. I had my reservations about characters in movies being played by anyone -but- whom we think we see as the perfect one. Djimon has proven acting skill, will carry the plot and sell the character. No question, no doubt. If you let anything else really affect your decision to see the movie, it has nothing to do with interest in seeing the movie do well, but in particular sensitivities to the roles played.
I think Kevin Garnett looks like Kratos. Why don’t you just have KG play Kratos. Then Kratos would also be almost 7′ tall, just to add to all the realism in the current plans.

His build may not be the best in the picture above, but how many times has an actor or actress totally change their body dimensions? Anyone see Russel Crowe in the Gladiator then Russel Crowe in American Gangster?? Come on people race does play a small part, However that’s for what the first 10-15 min of the film. After that, whomever they choose (by they I mean the individuals actually putting MILLIONS into this film) will be made up like Michael Jackson at the Source Awards. Djimon Hounsou, and Vin Diesel sound like they might be good, but I personally have compared both of their faces and neither match kratos’. Most of the people here are right about Djimon being black and kratos wasn’t black. That does pose a problem. However, Kratos was slightly brownish, if not a dark tan, (for those who thought he was white look at the cut scenes again, it wasn’t until he was permanately covered with the ashes of his wife and daughter.) Sadly, the possibilities I’ve come up with aren’t that dark. However, they are good Possibilities. My Idea of Kratos possibilities are Dominic Purcell of the hit tv show Prison Break, Franky J. of Saw 2, and Bill Goldberg of W.C.W. Now some people might down me but think about it. Some movies allow or even require actors to take months of preparation to come to what they are in movies. Give a certain amount of time, either of these men could build up to the God-Killer’s stature. Check out their Pictures for yourselves. picking Hounsou to play as Kratos is a bit extreme since kratos is a greek man. but, we have to realize that greek people, and the rest of southern europe from portugal, spain, and italy to turkey are obviously very ethically diverse. they are MOSTLY white and they identify as white, but their facial features, hair, and skin color are not like the rest of Europe for a very good reason. artwork depecting people of non-white ancestry has been found in these areas dating back to thousands of years ago, and many depections of people who are of obviously mulatto, or mixed ethnicity, has been seen as well, such as pictures of people riding chariots with “afro” hairstyles in Athens. even today, the famous greek combat coach, Jim Arvanitis, has frizzy hair like that. Google him. Africans and arabic people have been moving in and out of southern europe ever since whenever. someone said that african people weren’t in greece at the time period that the game plot was taking place. very not true. north africa is the same way. they are obviously MOSTLY african but there are still a lot of white and arabic traits in the people who live there today. their skin color, hair texture, and facial features aren’t like the rest of Africa for a very good reason. and there’s nothing wrong with this. the only time it becomes a problem is when someone hates someone else because they’re different which is foolish and sick. and those that say these bad things would look real stupid if they could go back 10,000 years ago and see all of the people in their own personal family tree. you go back that far there’s going to be a HUGE mix wether you like it or not. the whole “pure” thing is irrational and idiotic. kratos as he’s shown in the game is the way a lot of greeks looked back then. including the greek guy at the start of god of war 2 who looked up at the sky and praised kratos. he looked at least half white and half black.
I hope the people that worked on 300 also work on this movie, if they do that it would be another great movie.

Okay everyone is dumb. this guys in NEVER BACK DOWN and he is really big in that movie. If they get him to that size again and shave his head and his mustache(like in NEVER BACK DOWN) and fix his nose somehow with makeup to match KRATOS’ then there you go you have a great actor that looks very similar. The BEST Actor for the job is GERARD BUTLER, not because he already portrayed a spartan (reason enough for a dumb a** to say so, or because he is white but because he really fits the part for it.
For the director I’ll suggest Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Hellboy II), He is the perfect choice. They should get him for the job before he gets his hands on another project, otherwise the “God of War” people will end up like those of “Halo”. They approached Del Toro when he was already working with Hellboy II.
So before anything else happens I think they should get moving pronto.

I’m not going to suggest any actors, but I think this movie would be best done CGI, so none of the features change, and none of the voices do. Plus, they could do all the stunts they could possibly imagine, because people had no chance of getting hurt.

I think Stone Cold Steve Austin would be the best actor to play Kratos. Just take a look at the front cover of the condemned movie, and you all know that Stone Cold has the perfect attitude and acting skills for the part.

Well, I think Hounsou can definitely play the role if he can alter the accent a bit to suit more towards what the game Kratos sounds like. We also know that amazing things can be done with makeup these days. If Downey Jr. can play a black man in Tropic Thunder, what stops a black man from playing a very white/red character.
Also, I’m not against the use of real actors/animation in the same way they did Beowulf… same but different of course.

Lets go through parts: Djimon is a really great actor, has great expression (especially eye contact) and body structure although he would need to get some weight to ressemble the beast that Kratos actually is. He has a good symbolic capital considering his movies, none B-rated. YET, he lacks that pure evil instropective look that makes up Kratos in some decisive moments, even so if CG can make a lot for him using filters and Makeup. Not being racist here, but still I’d like to see a guy with some more arababic features, like when you see Kratos dreaming and feeling guilty for bringing destruction to Sparta. WWW guy Goldberg is perfectly physical yet, only at muscle level. His face doesn’t actually nearly match Kratos expressions. As for Dominic, he really matches Kratos expressions and can easily work out to equal Kratos but, for what we’ve seen in Prison Break, keeping angry-compulsive looks is not what he is best at. Imagine him doing Kratos eye-wide open the hole movie slashing guys up with the blades…
JUST TO END( sorry) between worn-out actors like Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel, certainly Dwayne would fit best, considering the”Scorpion King”. But he’ll have to train way harder this time to portrait the true God of War.

Ok…I know this goes agaisnt what Ive said, but even if Djimon doesnt get to act, he definitly has the best vocal potential. He definitly can easily learn to mimic Kratos and even to -SCREAM- like Kratos. Imagine him calling out for “Athheeeenna” or something like “I grow tired of the lies of the Gods”. Look at Amistad for example.

It ain’t that I don’t trust Jaffe’s impulse.In fact the more I look at Djimon the more I think that, with a lot of training act, he could really put it through. Considering the ashes and the CG, he can really be put to a good Kratos. In fact he’s got the strong accent to more or less bark ou shout like Kratos. But he still has to gain weight, do a lot of gym and kenpo classes to get the job done…That’s gonna be hard. I just hope directors dont screw with the storytelling:/ and make it another Mummy or Scorpion King.

I believe Djimon Hounsou is a great actor, but I think there are other choices for the role of Kratos. That warrior that Achilles (Brad Pitt) fights in Troy in the beginning of the movie could be kratos. The guy is freakin’ huge and he just looks like Kratos, or Vin Diesel could be Kratos too or even The Rock. My concern is that they make this movie for everybody to watch instead of an Adults Only movie. I think that this movie has to be classified as R or, I don’t know, NC-17.

I find it hard to believe that anyone should have a problem with a film due to the fact that the skin of the actor is black and the person he is portraying is potentially not black due to the region of the film. Well if that is your problem, since they can have Robert Downey Jr play the role of a black man by simply putting makeup on him, then I guess they can put make up on Djimoun to make him look more Greek. HEY!!!……..people and fanboys! Calm the eff down! There are two types of GOW players that want two different things in a GOW movie. One type wants EV.ER.Y thing to look EXACTLY like the game. They don’t care/think of how the game MUST translate to the big screen and will steadfastly and ignorantly beat a dead horse. The other type wants the INTENSITY of the game to translate correctly to the big screen. I don’t care if the actor who portrays Kratos is European, mixed heritage, or of black African descent (there are White Africans, remember?). Whoever is is, he MUST have ALL of the intensity of Kratos…and I believe the chosen actor will.

yes, we all have our own personal opinions and we are entitled to them all, but the fact still remains that this individuals or group of individuals who choose Hounsou to play kratos are professionals who are experienced and know the exact qualities which they looking for. So, let us all just relax, sit back and enjoy the great movie. We all should have it at the back of our mind that even if vin diesel, the rock, jason stratham or gerald buttler take up this role, it could also turn ro be a complete failure as was the case with Lara Crofts Tomb Raider. So yeah, a black man voiced Kratos. So why not find a WHITE actor with an appropraite voice, like Vin Diesel or something?
Sure the other guy is a great actor, he was great in Gladiator and Blood Diamond. I bet they wouldnt have got a white man to play HIS roles then, right? Thats because a white man wouldnt have been appropraite for the role and culture of it.
Getting a white Kratos just makes sense, and I`m only giving my opinion on what would be best for the movie.

When i see djimon in blood diamond, he’s not really fit for kratos. but when i see him starred in “never back down”, damn this man look is scary and his body is perfect. i can’t think other than him. i know greek history before i write this. colour doesn’t matter, they can just wrapped him in white.. djimon face, body and acting skill absolutely fit for kratos character.

I have to agree, Kratos isn’t the only person they have to get right. There is Athena, Zeus, Hades, Poseidon and many many more including the Titans as in GOW2. They can get Kratos right but what about the rest of them? This argument will go on for a long time and not everyone is gonna be happy with the choices. CG is then another option or we’ll all just have to be happy with who we get or not. It took a while for them to decide on the look Kratos should have, it only stands to reason that it’ll be just as hard to agree on who will bring the game to life. GOW is by far the best adventure game so far, the movie has very big shoes to fill and way too many expectations to fulfill. HOPEFULLY THEY WON’T SCREW IT UP !!!!!!!!!

Vin Deisel has the rough deep voice, the build, already looks good bald, has plenty of action/fight experience in his movies. Face it. Kratos isn’t exactly some deep dramatic shakespearian character. Djimon has a big build and in a pinch could resemble kratos, but seriously, all this nonsense about it’s “acting” and you can cast anyone. WRONG! As a fan you want to see your character, in every respect, translate to the scream as acurately as possible and using a black dude to play a greek because he someone resembles the character is ridiculous. On that basis, it’s sad that you’ll defend him over such loose qualifications compared to a white actor better suited for the role, like gerard butler or vin deisel. The Rock can’t do it. He’s just do damn big.

first of all, i think the director of kong should do this. you know, whoever gets this role should be able to play the mean, furious,merciless and brital charactor in the game.the charactor’s movement and physique also counts. anything less will be a disappointment. there should also be a lot of blood.the movie should at least give audience the satisfaction players get from the game, if not more. creators of the game must insist on these to make the film successful. the movie directors know the actors very well, i hope. whoever they choose must be the kratos we play in the game. the person’s skin color is not important. he MUST BE kratos.
