Rockstar has confirmed that the Grand Theft Auto IV screenshot which has been circulating on the internet is a hoax. It shows a woman character wielding a mace. The image first showed up in the inboxes of various media organizations under the subject line “From a disgruntled ex-employee of Rockstar…”.
Rockstar initially gave a “no comment” when asked to confirm or deny whether the image was genuine or not. This further gave an impression that the image was a true one.
GTA series have been very popular, GTA III being in the news recently for all the wrong reasons. It had a patch update which opened a rather graphic scene. GTA IV has been eagerly awaited, but the company has still not officially revealed the storyline.
The game will release in October 2007 on the Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms. It has been speculated that it will use the Table Tennis’s RAGE engine.
