Grand Theft Auto (GTA) Trilogy announced for the PlayStation 2 (PS2) Platform

On Tuesday, Rockstar Games announced Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy. This release is a compilation of the three original Grand Theft Auto releases on the PS2, which include Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas.

The individual games of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy include some of the most acclaimed and best selling titles of the passing console generation. On the whole, these Grand Theft Auto titles are significant in creating a new precedent for licensed game music and influencing the nature of open ended game design forever.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy is believed to be Rockstar’s final new release of a PS2 product sporting the Grand Theft Auto title. With a strong connection to the PlayStation brand, the publisher is planning to migrate to the PS3 as soon as it is released on November 17.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy will retail for $39.99 (Rs 1,792) when it releases for PS2 on December 4, 2006. It is planned for a late 2007 release on Sony’s next-gen platform.
